How to Migrate Google Drive Files to Nextcloud
Migrating your files from Google Drive to Nextcloud is a simple way to regain control over your data while continuing to enjoy secure file synchronization and collaboration features.
In this tutorial, we demonstrate how to transfer files from Google Drive to a Nextcloud account using the Google Drive desktop application and the Nextcloud Desktop Client. This method allows users to synchronize their existing Google Drive folder directly to a Nextcloud server without manually downloading and uploading files through a web browser.
The migration process begins by installing Google Drive for Desktop and signing in with your Google account. Once connected, your Google Drive files become available on your local computer. After that, you can connect the Nextcloud Desktop Client to your Nextcloud server and create a folder synchronization connection between the local Google Drive folder and a destination folder in Nextcloud.
After synchronization is completed, all files stored in Google Drive will be available in your Nextcloud account. You can then remove the temporary synchronization connection if it is no longer needed.
This approach is ideal for users who are moving from Google Drive to Nextcloud and want a straightforward migration process without complicated export or import procedures.
By switching to Nextcloud, organizations and individuals gain greater control over their data, improved privacy, GDPR-friendly storage options, and the flexibility of a private cloud environment.
